I participated in a group session led by Drea starting last year. She provided a safe, non-judgmental space for women with similar stories to share. I had been in a dark place for a long time, feeling unworthy and like a failure, which controlled my life. During the course of our meetings, I shared my deepest feelings and had women come alongside me, assuring me that they, too, had felt this way. We all leaned on each other for support and encouragement.

By the end of last summer’s sessions, I felt assured that the lies I used to tell myself were nothing but falsehoods meant to keep me stuck where I didn’t belong. Women I had just met came up to me, sharing that they, too, had felt trapped by the same lies—whether due to choices they had made or ones made for them. They thought they were alone in feeling this way, and our shared experience started my healing journey.

This journey has changed how I see myself today. I no longer feel defeated or rejected because I now know who I am—I am free! When Drea informed me of the 8-week session she would be hosting online this summer, I was excited to participate again, see familiar faces, and meet new ones. Once again, I left with more tools to face and conquer my fears and the lies I once believed. I will continue using the weapons I’ve gained to fight until the end.
